Unless the phone comes with an app locker, it's not advisable to use any third party apps for such tasks. Those apps can track too much information with their access level. It's not safe. Alternatively, You can use any safe launcher with an app hide feature. Gmail app stopped syncing IMAP accounts. I've got a few IMAP accounts in the Gmail app on my Pixel 7Pro. Since a couple of days ago they have stopped syncing. When I search I find these instructions, but the new app has a different layout. There is a "manage account" button, but then no "edit", or "remove" choices.
